The North Carolina Board of Transport enabled 14-foot-wide homes on the state's roadways, yet until January 1997, 16-foot-wide houses were not permitted. 41 states enabled 16-foot-side residences, yet they were not sold in North Carolina. Under a trial program approved January 10, 1997, the broader houses could be supplied on certain roads at certain times of day as well as travel 10 miles per hour below the speed limitation, with companion lorries in front as well as behind. At some point, all homes needed to leave the state on interstate highways. Mobile residences can be found in two major sizes, single-wides as well as double-wides.
