The North Carolina Board of Transportation enabled 14-foot-wide houses on the state's roadways, but till January 1997, 16-foot-wide houses were not allowed. 41 states enabled 16-foot-side homes, yet they were not sold in North Carolina. Under a test program approved January 10, 1997, the broader houses might be supplied on details roads at certain times of day as well as travel 10 mph below the rate restriction, with escort lorries in front and behind. Ultimately, all homes had to leave the state on interstate highways. Mobile homes come in two significant dimensions, single-wides and double-wides.
