In these instances deterioration defense is offered by permitting a sacrificial thickness of steel or by taking on a greater quality of steel. If a concrete filled pipe heap is rusted, most of the lots bring ability of the pile will continue to be undamaged due to the concrete, while it will be shed in an empty pipe stack.
